The Secrets of Aloha

by thecryingshaman on July 24, 2010

Maui SunsetOf all the shamanic disciplines I have studied, I am drawn most to the Hawaiian version of shamanic practice.

The culture of the Hawaiians is one of strength, independence, love and family.  The Hawaiian shaman was an integral part of maintaining family harmony.

I am excited that Larry Kessler once again will be bringing his knowledge and passion of Hawaiian Shamanism to Seattle this Fall!

This workshop, The Secrets of Aloha, will explore the source of aloha and the ways in which we can incorporate this powerful energy in our lives!

According to Larry:

Aloha (love) fills the people of Hawaii with a gentle warmth. It is perhaps the one secret of the Hawaiians that can’t be taught. But it can be awakened and nurtured and allowed to flow. When this happens, the soul moves and power, strength, and healing come together.

In this workshop, we will experience where aloha comes from and to where it flows. By using family constellations and other techniques, we will find the source of aloha and use it to heal ourselves and the ohana (family soul). If the ohana is left unhealed, we can become entangled with our ancestors and take on their fates. But love can also heal the family soul and free us from living someone else’s fate.

About Larry: Ki’iolani (Larry Kessler, M.A.) was made an alakai (teacher) of Huna by the kupua Kiaina’auaomaikalani over twelve years ago. He was initiated into a lineage of kahunas that extends from Daddy Bray back twenty generations before Kamehameha. Spending over ten years in Hawaii, he further worked with Papa Henry and Uncle George Naope of Hawaii, Papa Kahlua of Oahu, and John Kaimikaua of Molokai. He now teaches workshops on Hawaiian Shamanism around the country and has a private practice in Long Beach, CA.
