About Me
Who Am I?
I began my working life 35 years ago in the medical profession working with doctors and nurses in Orthopedics and Cardiothoracic Surgery.
One day a fraternity buddy said to me “Hey, you should look at working with these computer things. I think they’re going to be big one day!”
Those were the days when Bill Gates had a bad haircut and worked out of his garage!
And thus started my career in the corporate work force.
I started in the nuts and bolts of computer technology as a programmer building business systems. I wrote code and stayed at work round the clock to debug and test programs.
As my technical knowledge matured I began to pay more attention to the people in the work place…what they did…how they did it…and what their roles were doing to them.
My interest in people motivated me to pursue a management path where I oversaw a number of individuals in different capacities…staff, contractors, consultants, onshore and overseas personnel. I worked with vendors, sales people, support people and every level of senior and executive management.
I also sampled many of these roles myself.
Every encounter with another person was a lesson in communication and understanding. Each role posed its own forms of challenges and issues.
Throughout my career, I worked with a number of companies and organizations including Marion Merrel Dow, Hallmark Cards, Boeing Aircraft Company, Oracle Corporation and Starbucks Coffee Company.
As I continued to work with people in the work place, I became aware of a number of tools and process that would allow people to take control of their lives more fully. When this happens, a person becomes more present, communication becomes easier and more meaningful, more options are available in stressful situations and, in general, life is more satisfying!
I studied and used these tools in a number of situations while assisting others, as well as transforming my life into one I love living!
Eventually, I found myself the victim of a down economy and company layoffs. But rather than being a negative milestone in my life, it was a transformative moment! Using what I had learned, I was once again at a starting point, able to create a life I am passionate about.
And part of that passion is in being able to bring to you those same techniques that changed my life!
A few years ago I was called into Shamanic service. Like many, I ignored the call. One day, I “awoke” to the challenge and my life began to change. Over and over, I’ve been told that my focus is “Human Enlightenment”.
I have had many wonderful teachers, many of whom came into my life at precisely the time when I was ready to accept their teaching. A Celtic shaman, a Tibetan shaman, a Peruvian shaman, a Hawaiian shaman, a life-long psychic, a Reiki Master have all been my teachers.
Each teacher was a vehicle through which my spiritual guides taught me various concepts and techniques. Each teacher taught me using their own interpretation of the lesson, their own style.
Working with groups gives me the most joy! I love teaching, coaching, and working in circles! I do counseling and shamanic work with individuals, but feel the energy move through me best when I am in the group setting.
Healing circles, journey circles and intention circles are my current focus. These groups are powerful because they bond with the community. Their actions support, nurture and heal the community.
What Do I Do?
One of the first processes I studied was Shamanic Counseling. This allowed me to see that we are surrounded with energies that we can work with to direct our lives.
I learned a tool called EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and saw it produce amazing results resolving both physical and emotional situations.
This lead me into the study of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) where I began to understand from where within us we choose the ways we respond to the world around us.
I also studied the concept of Intentions and saw the power of individuals to create the world around them. This was such a life-changing concept that I began to teach and run groups focused on the Intention process.
In addition to these areas, I learned about Reiki, Energy Medicine, Huna, Ho’oponopono, and various intuitive skills.
My focus has been on the integration of these tools in my life and way of working with people. Throughout this, I have learned some core principles that I hold close to me as I help others:
* A person enabled can make better choices to live a happier, more fulfilling life!
* A person has everything they need within them to make those choices!
* A person is much more than the stories they tell themselves about themselves!
My Philosophy
The way I look at people has been influenced by the many great teachers that I have had. The tools that I use are all in line with this perspective!
And in many ways, my awareness that we all have a choice in how we live drives my passion to help people see the true answers within them.
For once we see what is behind our behaviors, we can make better choices that create for us a healthier, happier life…wherever we are!
When we work together, it is with my commitment to the belief in the following principles:
You are always doing the BEST that you can!
You always choose the best action based on the options available to you. Often, better options become apparent after you have acted. When you have better options, you make better choices!
No one is broken…No one needs to be fixed! You are a perfectly performing individual that always chooses the best action to receive the best outcome.
You already have all of the answers within you! When there is a challenge, it is usually a matter of accessing those answers within you!
Your Mind and Body are connected and behave together!
They’re inseparable!
Try thinking about doing your taxes or eating an ice cream cone on a hot day without your body feeling something!
Your behavior is not you. You are much more than the actions that you choose to take! And who you are is very much a function of who you choose to be today!
Your life is a series of experiences that teach you something each time. You can only fail when you stop trying…which only tells you that you aren’t seeing other options!
It is with great respect for the journey people have taken in life, that I love working with people! I am amazed that we all have survived SO much and are still able to function! To me, this speaks to the incredible flexibility and adaptability of the human spirit!
Why “The Crying Shaman“?
For many years, I carried this monicker with me, a name given to me to reflect the deep compassion I feel for people who struggle in search of themselves. It also symbolizes the elation I feel when they discover who they really are!
Such is the journey of the human being! We are spectacular creatures! And we are so much more than we have ever been led to believe!
